ROMPIN: Thirty express bus passengers escaped unhurt after their vehicle collided with a trailer on the Endau Bridge at the Pahang-Johor border last night.

Rompin district police chief Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi said the accident occurred at 11.20pm while the bus was travelling from Johor Baru to .

Initial investigations revealed that a trailer carrying a load of iron, headed from Kuantan to Johor Baru, lost control while crossing the bridge.

“The trailer veered into the right lane and collided with the oncoming bus,” he said in a statement.

Sharif Shai said the drivers of both vehicles and all 30 passengers, aged between seven and 50, were not injured.

The passengers were sent to their destinations on a replacement bus about an hour after the incident.

He added that the crash was caused by the trailer driver’s failure to maintain control of the vehicle.

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for negligent driving.
