Bukit Aman CID chief M Kumar warned the public against misusing social media to spread statements that are seditious, have criminal elements, or can provoke a breach of public peace.
PETALING JAYA:

Federal police have arrested three men in connection with viral videos that are purportedly seditious and contain threats to national leaders.

Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar said the trio, aged 27, 35 and 69, are being probed for criminal intimidation, sedition, and improper use of network facilities.

He said the first case involved a comment posted by Facebook account “Jibbie Sahaq”, which allegedly threatened public peace and criminally intimidated a national leader.

Another case involved the 69-year-old suspect delivering a speech at Kampung Sungai Baru in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The third case was linked to a comment posted by Facebook account “Ayien Rose”, which allegedly threatened a national leader and could cause public unease.

“We will not compromise with anyone who misuse social media platforms to spread statements that are seditious, have criminal elements, or can provoke a breach of public peace or national security,” Kumar said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Youth lodged a police report over individuals allegedly spreading seditious remarks, false claims and threats against Prime Minister Ibrahim, the party president.
