DUNGUN: Two Yamaha RXZ motorcycle riders were killed on the East Coast Expressway 2 near Bukit Besi and Ajil, Hulu Terengganu, while travelling to attend the RXZ Members 7.0 event at the Terengganu Motorsports Circuit today.
The first incident occurred at Km370 near the Bukit Besi Rest and Service Area, where Hariz Fahmi Shaizuren Amin, from Taman Lestari Putra, Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, died at the scene.
According to reports, the crash happened at noon when Hariz Fahmi, riding with several friends on similar motorcycles, grazed another machine, causing his bike to overturn.
He was thrown onto the road and later pronounced dead.
District police chief Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir said that the victim’s body was sent to Dungun Hospital’s Forensic Unit.
She urged all motorcyclists to prioritise safety and ride with caution.
In the second incident at Km394 near Ajil, Hulu Terengganu, a nurse, Roslinawati Ramli, 33, from Johor, died when her motorcycle lost control while travelling in a convoy of 14 bikes to the event.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief Sharudin Abdul Wahab said Roslinawati suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Hulu Terengganu Hospital for a post-mortem.
Earlier today, a 33-year-old sales executive, Mohd Syukri Shahrudin from Rembau, Negri Sembilan, was also killed when his Yamaha RXZ skidded off the road at Jalan Palong 8, Bera, while travelling to the gathering at 6.30am.
Syukri, who was among the lead riders in a convoy of about 60 motorcycles, sustained severe head and hand injuries and died on the spot.
His body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Bera Hospital for a post-mortem, with investigations underway under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
