PETALING JAYA:

A mild earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale hit Segamat, Johor, at 7.29am today.

The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) said the quake occurred about 10km west of Segamat at a depth of 10km.

It said it is monitoring the situation.

A series of mild quakes has shaken Segamat and its surrounding areas in recent days.

Yesterday, a 3.4-magnitude quake occurred at 4.24am about 12km northeast of Segamat at a depth of 10km.

It was the third tremor in as many days.
