PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak was sentenced to 165 years’ imprisonment and fined RM11.4 billion after being found guilty of misappropriating RM2.3 billion in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds.
However, the former prime minister will effectively serve 15 years behind bars, after High Court judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah ordered the jail term to run concurrently after he finishes serving his current sentence.
Najib will face an additional 40 years in prison if he fails to settle the fine.
He was convicted on four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering, all linked to the RM2.3 billion siphoned from 1MDB.
