Wanita PKR said the 13th Malaysia Plan, tabled yesterday, will help spur economic empowerment by providing support for women entrepreneurs, and access to education and training.
Describing the five-year plan as a “comprehensive strategy”, the wing’s communications chief, Norhayati Umor, noted that one of the plan’s main targets was to raise female labour force participation to 60%, through access to quality childcare services and tailored training programmes.
“The 13MP is not just about economic growth, but also about equitable distribution of opportunities and inclusive development to ensure no group is left behind,” she said in a statement today.
Norhayati also praised the cross-sector and community engagement approach in drafting the plan, saying it showed that public voices, including those of women, were taken into account in shaping national policies.
She said Wanita PKR will remain committed to ensuring the benefits of the plan are felt across all segments of society and result in real, on-the-ground change.
The 13MP will involve RM611 billion over five years, with major upgrades planned in transport, education, healthcare, and renewable energy.
Anwar said RM430 billion will come from the government, with government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies contributing RM120 billion.
The remaining RM61 billion is expected to come from the private sector through public-private partnerships.
