The authorities have busted a group of four 12-year-olds selling lewd pictures of themselves on WhatsApp, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today.
Saifuddin said some of the girls decided to drop out of school as they were making more money than their parents from the sale of their pictures.
He said their activities were uncovered thanks to multi-agency cooperation across several ministries.
“The four of them are just 12 years old but conspired among themselves (to sell the pictures). They had a WhatsApp group with many members – 762 to be specific,” he told the Dewan Rakyat today.
Saifuddin said the case is being handled by Bukit Aman’s sexual, women and child investigations division, or D11.
The case also involves the women, children and community development and education ministries, while the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is assisting.
Saifuddin was replying to Sabri Azit (PN-Jerai), who had asked if the home ministry was working with other ministries to tackle the issue of swingers online, which involves married couples sharing partners.
