PETALING JAYA:

About 100,000 goods and public land transport company vehicles nationwide are expected to be eligible for RON95 petrol subsidies under the subsidised petrol control system (SKPS).

Domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali said this figure was derived from the integration of SKPS data with the road transport department’s (JPJ) system, Bernama reported.

He said although registration for the scheme opened yesterday, the number of company vehicles from both sectors applying remained low, totalling only 335 vehicles from 154 companies.

He added that 240 vehicles from 70 companies were from the public land transport sector, while the remaining 95 vehicles from 84 enterprises were from the goods transport sector.

“Although there is no closing date, I urge all eligible goods and public land transport companies to register immediately to ensure they receive the subsidy benefits from the first day of implementation,” the Papar MP said after visiting the Lok Kawi Height temporary evacuation centre in Kinarut in Papar.

Eligible goods and public land transport companies will be required to apply for a fleet card from three designated petrol companies after completing the SKPS registration process.
