PTPTN loan repayment exemption for first-class graduates still in effect

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has reaffirmed that its loan repayment exemption policy for first-class honours graduates remains in effect and has never been withdrawn.

In a statement tonight, PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the incentive applies to borrowers who graduated with a first-class bachelor’s degree from 2019 onwards.

She emphasised that the exemption is available to graduates from recognised institutions of higher learning, regardless of economic background, race or religion.

“PTPTN urges all parties not to politicise education-related matters and to respect existing policies that directly benefit high-achieving graduates. Education must remain a platform for human development, not political discourse,” she said.

Norliza added that eligible graduates may apply for the exemption online via the myPTPTN portal at https://myptptn.ptptn.gov.my.

As an agency under the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE), PTPTN remains committed to ensuring that the application process is transparent, efficient and fair, in line with its role in supporting student welfare and the country’s higher education aspirations.
