KUCHING, Sept 18 — A 12-year-old boy is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile in Kampung Empila, Kota Samarahan, about 30 kilometres from here today.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, the body of Arif Fahmi Aiman Mohd Tinggal was found about 10 metres from where he was last seen.
The centre said it was alerted to the incident at 7.53am after a witness reported seeing a boy setting a net from a boat.
“The witness then heard the victim screaming and, upon looking towards the direction of the sound, discovered that the boy had disappeared. The witness immediately went to the location and searched for the boy before contacting the emergency line.
“The victim was later found by the fire and rescue team at 9.50am with chest injuries caused by a crocodile bite. The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action,” it said. — Bernama
