Cops nab 73-year-old-man after his friend dies after Pangkor fight

IPOH: A man was nabbed in connection to a fight that claimed the life of another man in Pangkor.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said that a call was received on Sept 17 at 2pm from the public regarding a fight between two men at a house at Sungai Pinang Kecil, Pangkor.

“The two men were friends, both 73 years old, and lived together in a nursing home.

“One of the men was found unconscious with head injuries, while the suspect had left the scene,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 18).

He added that the victim was later confirmed dead at around 1.45pm by medical officers from the Pangkor Health Clinic who arrived at the location.

ACP Hasbullah added that the deceased’s body was sent to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun forensic department for a post-mortem.

He said that based on public information, the suspect was arrested at about 2.30pm the same day in front of a restaurant in Sungai Pinang Kecil.

“The Seri Manjung Court magistrate has allowed the suspect to be remanded for seven days from today for further investigation.

“The motive behind the incident is still under investigation and the case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he added.
