KOTA KINABALU, Sept 18 — One of the students accused of bullying 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir has transferred out of the school.
The chief warden at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha Azhari Abdul Sagap said that one of the students known as A, who was charged with bullying Zara Qairina the night before she was found unconscious had left the school a few weeks after the incident.
In questioning, Azhari said that A was one of two students who had her wallet stolen and had accused Zara Qairina.
Counsel Shahlan Jufri: Do you know whether student A was involved in the seniors summoning Zara Qairina on the night of the 15th?
Azhari: I don’t know
Shahlan: Are students A, B, C, D and E still schooling at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha?
Azhari: At this point, yes.
Shahlan: What do you mean?
Azhari: Yes, they are.
Shahlan: I’m told A has transferred the school? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Azhari: Yes, correct.
Shahlan: So only B C D and E are left?
Azhari: Yes.
Shahlan: So after Zara’s incident, I’m told the education department froze all transfers of students? How did A get to leave?
Azhari: That is not my jurisdiction.
Shahlan: Do you know when A got transferred?
Azhari: I don’t remember, a few weeks after the incident.
Shahlan: As far as I know, you need a valid reason to transfer. Do you know what was the reason she wanted to move?
Azhari: I don’t know
