PAS election director Sanusi Nor has rubbished a claim that Bersatu fully funded the party’s election machinery in the last general election.
Sanusi, who is also the Kedah menteri besar, said PAS funded its own election machinery, especially in his state.
He said the funds were donated by PAS members nationwide.
“Please ask him who Bersatu gave the money to, for I would like to know as well,” he told FMT, referring to Marzuki Mohamad, a former principal private secretary to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
“In Kedah, we (PAS) self-funded through members donation.”
Sanusi also revealed that PAS had paid for the election material for the Bersatu candidates, adding that only one candidate reimbursed them later.
Earlier today, Marzuki took a jab at Sanusi after he chastised Bersatu leaders for relying on PAS’s resources during elections.
In a Facebook post, Marzuki said PAS faced no major issues with election expenditure during the 15th general election, as it used election machinery paid for by Bersatu.
He also claimed that the funds Bersatu provided to PAS were not meagre, adding that the sum helped PAS win 43 parliamentary seats.
“This is the reality. Aid in terms of equipment and funding was given by Bersatu to PAS, which I believe Sanusi himself knows,” he said.
Meanwhile, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man appeared to take a more diplomatic stance, saying every component had contributed to the coalition’s election machinery.
“There is no need to comment,” Tuan Ibrahim said.
