PETALING JAYA:

A vocational college student facing four charges of raping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl last month was charged today with two counts of raping a female college student in July.

Nur Hakim Laili, 20, pleaded not guilty to the charges read out in the Batu Pahat sessions court before judge Osman Affendi Shalleh, Berita Harian reported.

According to the first charge, Hakim allegedly raped a 20-year-old college student in a sports utility vehicle parked by the roadside in Parit Raja, Johor, between 11pm and 1am on July 27.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

Hakim was also accused of sexual connection by object with the same victim at the same location and time, an offence under Section 377CA of the same code, which provides for five to 30 years’ imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Sharifah Natasha Syed Ahmad while lawyer Razak Sharif represented Hakim.

The prosecution offered bail of RM40,000 for both charges, but the court allowed bail of RM10,000.

The court also required Hakim to report to the nearest police station at the beginning of each month, refrain from disturbing prosecution witnesses, including the victim, and surrender his passport to the court.

The case will be mentioned again on Oct 16 for the submission of documents.

On Aug 18, Hakim was charged in the Muar sessions court with four counts of raping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

He pleaded not guilty to all four charges and was granted bail of RM20,000.
