KOTA KINABALU: Three scheduled train services were cancelled on Wednesday (Sept 17) due to flooding, the state Railway Department said in a statement.
The department said the cancellations were caused by floods along the tracks between Sembulan (in Kota Kinabalu) and south-western Beaufort, which remain submerged.
The areas affected include KM20 (between Kinarut and Kawang), where parts of the rocks supporting the tracks were washed away by floodwaters.
At KM34 (between Kawang and Papar) and KM62 (between Kimanis and Bongawan), the tracks have been submerged with water well above rail level.
As such, the department said scheduled train services PU201, PS101 and PU502 had to be cancelled for today (Sept 19).
“Passengers are advised to find alternative transportation to their respective destinations,” the department said, apologising for the inconvenience caused.
The Kota Kinabalu–Beaufort–Tenom railway line, spanning 134km, is the only rail service in Sabah.
