KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim began his working visit to Penang today with a courtesy call on Penang Governor Ramli Ngah Talib at his official residence, Seri Mutiara.
Anwar said the meeting touched on a wide range of issues, from international geopolitical developments to national progress and the welfare of the people in the state.
“The meeting, which was also attended by the Penang chief minister and the communications minister, touched on various matters, from international geopolitical developments to national development and the welfare of the people in the state,” he said in a statement.
Anwar also said the meeting was nostalgic as Ramli shared old photographs of him and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail with him and Toh Puan Raja Datuk Seri Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, taken in the 1990s after a game of badminton.
Anwar, who had just returned from Doha, Qatar earlier this morning, was accompanied by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
He is scheduled to attend the 2025 Malaysia Day celebration in Penang later this evening.
