JAKARTA, Sept 16 (Bernama) — Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI) in a move to further strengthen international collaboration and benefit the academic community.
UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Zaliman Sauli said the partnership between the two universities began in 2020, followed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2021 to formalise their cooperation.
“This MoA renewal marks a renewed commitment to deepen collaboration, including enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through academic staff exchanges, student mobility, and joint research projects.
“In addition, it opens doors for organising seminars, symposiums, and international forums that can spark new ideas and showcase the expertise of both institutions,” he said during a visit to USAKTI today.
The MoA was signed by the USAKTI Foundation head Prof. Ainun Na’im and Zaliman, witnessed by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is UniMAP chancellor.
Accompanying Tuanku Syed Faizuddin in the visit, held in conjunction with UniMAP International Leadership Mobility 2025, was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is UniMAP Pro-Chancellor.

“The university’s main focus is in the field of Engineering and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Technology, especially in Electrical and Electronics, in line with current industry needs,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra expressed the importance of building international networks to broaden the horizons of UniMAP students
“I would like to see more UniMAP students gain knowledge and experience in Indonesia, especially at USAKTI, while we also welcome the presence of students from Trisakti to explore engineering, technology, and innovation,” he said.
On Aug 11, UniMAP won the TVET Higher Education Provider (PPT) Excellence Award in the University and University College category at the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Awards 2025.
