ALOR STAR: Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang delivered a winding-up speech lasting almost two hours today after being returned unopposed as the party’s president at its 71st Muktamar Assembly.
At 78, the former Terengganu menteri besar began his address while seated at the Kedah Pas Complex hall at 2.15pm, following the winding-up speeches of the party’s top leaders, including deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Hadi’s speech which ended at 4.12pm, focused on political issues, including the prospect of a Pas prime ministerial candidate, reminders and advice on party leadership, as well as various socio-political and religious matters.
The 71st Pas Muktamar Assembly had been scheduled to conclude at 3pm, but delegates admirably remained in the hall to listen to his full address.
A press conference, initially planned after the speech, was called off.
