TUMPAT, Sept 16 — In conjunction with Malaysia Day, the Tumpat Madani Community rode in a convoy of  120 motorcycles, while flying the Jalur Gemilang, for 71 kilometres to instil a sense of patriotism.

Patron of the Tumpat Madani Centre, Dr. Muhamad Razak Idris, said the initiative was aimed at encouraging the community to embrace the spirit of patriotism while strengthening ties among residents.

“At each stop of the convoy, we engaged with residents, shared the message of independence, and distributed the Jalur Gemilang. Programmes like this will continue in the future,” he told Bernama at the Malaysia Day Motorcycle Convoy held at the Kampung Laut Heritage Park today.

He said the programme involved 12 Madani Communities in Tumpat, including Kampung Laut, Kampung Baru Nelayan, and Kampung Geting, and was held in collaboration with the Information Department.

Meanwhile, Tumpat Madani Community chairman Ahmad Shafik Ab Rahman said the motorcycle convoy was the third programme organised in conjunction with National Day to foster patriotism among the people.

“Alhamdulillah, the response was encouraging. Every programme we organise consistently receives strong participation from the community in Tumpat,” he said.

Head of the Geting Madani Community, Mazalina Ibrahim, highlighted that Tumpat is home to many fascinating historical sites, but stressed that some of them deserve greater attention from the authorities so they can be developed and promoted further in the future. — Bernama
