KOTA BHARU: The Public Works Department (PWD) has sought federal funds to repair the main Kota Baru–Gua Musang road, which developed a severe crack between Machang and the Simpang Tiga Kemuning overpass.
The road has been fully closed to all vehicles following worsening land sedimentation that poses a danger to motorists.
State PWD director Nik Soh Yaacoub said earlier only one lane had been closed after a sewerage collapse a few weeks ago.
“From our observation, the crack has widened, prompting PWD Kelantan to fully close the road.
“We carried out a structural analysis and found the land to be unstable.
“For the safety of road users, the route will remain closed until repair works are completed,” he said when contacted.
He advised motorists to use the alternative route via Bandar Machang Lama towards Kuala Krai–Gua Musang or Kuala Krai–Kota Baru.
