NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 49.23 points, or 0.11 percent, to 45,883.45. The S&P 500 added 30.99 points, or 0.47 percent, to 6,615.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 207.65 points, or 0.94 percent, to 22,348.75.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with consumer staples and health leading the laggards by losing 1.15 percent and 1.01 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and consumer discretionary led the gainers by adding 2.33 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
