SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — A total of 41 flood victims from nine families were moved to the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Hulu Bernam after their homes in Jalan Besar Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur, Batu 49, Hulu Bernam, Hulu Selangor, were inundated early this morning.
District Disaster Management Committee chairman Yuhanas Auree Kamarudin said the floods affected nine houses along with nine cars, nine motorcycles and two lorries, according to a report by BuletinTV3 today.
The evacuees comprise 13 men, 11 women, six senior citizens, eight children, two disabled persons, and a baby girl.
“Earlier, the district operations control centre received a call from the public regarding floods following continuous heavy rain since 2am.
“River water levels have risen to a dangerous 42.60 metres,” he said in a statement.
Yuhanas Auree added that three members of the Civil Defence Force (APM) and machinery were deployed in the operation.
