KOTA KINABALU, Sept 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim has ordered the immediate deployment of government resources to assist Sabah residents hit by ongoing floods and landslides, pledging swift relief and financial support.

He had gone to Qatar to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha to join world Islamic leaders to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza when the news of the deadly floods and landslides broke.

“I am deeply moved by the impact of the floods currently ravaging Sabah. I have instructed the Madani Government machinery to act immediately so aid can reach the affected people without disruption,” , who is also finance minister, said in a Facebook post this afternoon.

He stressed that the government’s priority is the safety, welfare, and survival of flood victims.

In addition to RM11 million already channelled through the state government, approved an extra RM10 million via the National Disaster Management Agency to help restore essential services and provide immediate relief to affected families.

“The Madani Government will ensure every impacted household receives assistance without delay,” he said.

Anwar also called for unity and compassion, urging Malaysians to come together to help those in need.

“We must demonstrate solidarity and shared responsibility in facing this severe crisis,” he added.

Sabah has been battered by continuous heavy rain over the past week, triggering flash floods, landslides, and power outages in multiple districts.

Hundreds of residents have been evacuated, with rescue teams working round the clock to clear roads and assist those stranded.
