ALOR SETAR:

Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Yassin hopes that would contest in the next general election under the coalition’s banner, even in the Islamic party’s stronghold states.

The Bersatu president said contesting under the same banner would not only save money but would also promote the coalition’s unity in the long run.

“While this has not been decided upon and is not yet time to do so, our wish is to have all PN parties contesting under the same banner, including in the ‘SG4′ states,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the muktamar here.

“SG4” refers to the four state governments led by PAS, namely , Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

said this would also be discussed in a PN Supreme Council meeting next week.

This comes after PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin suggested that the Islamic party contest under its iconic “moon” logo in , Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

Hashim said contesting under the PAS banner had proven to be effective in Kelantan and Terengganu during the 2022 general election (GE15).

PN had swept all parliamentary seats in Terengganu and Kelantan in GE15, with Bersatu candidates also contesting under the PAS banner.

In Kedah, the coalition contested under the PN banner and had a landslide victory, taking 14 out of the 15 parliamentary seats.
