Verdict:
TRUE
A scuffle broke out between two men after one of them allegedly smoked near the other’s pregnant wife at a restaurant in Shah Alam.
In a statement on Monday (Sept 15), Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident was reported on Sept 12 after a video of the fight in Seksyen 13 was uploaded online.
The complainant, who is pregnant, was uneasy after the suspect was smoking in the restaurant. She was worried about her health and the health of her unborn child.
She and her husband asked a worker to tell the man to stop, but he ignored their concerns. The husband then advised the man to stop multiple times, which led to a confrontation.
The complainant claimed the suspect then blew smoke towards them, which led to a fight. The scuffle involved pushing between the suspect and the complainant’s husband.
The smoker then left the restaurant. Police have investigated the area and obtained CCTV footage of the incident.
“At the time of the fight, there were many witnesses at the restaurant,” he said, adding that the suspect has been identified.
Investigations are underway, with the case being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
