Teenager, 14, dies after fall from 21st floor apartment in Penang

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 15 — A teenage girl died after she is believed to have fallen from the 21st floor of an apartment in Paya Terubong, Air Itam in George Town, Penang, last night.

In the 8.06pm incident, the 14-year-old victim was found unconscious on the ground floor of the building before being pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report published in Utusan Malaysia

North-east District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said an initial investigation by the district police headquarters’ Investigation Team together with the Penang Contingent Police Forensics Unit found no criminal elements at the scene.

“The victim’s body has been sent to the Forensics Department of Penang Hospital (HPP) and a post-mortem is expected to be carried out today to determine the actual cause of death.

“For now, the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR),” he said, also advising the public not to speculate about the incident to avoid disrupting the police investigation.
