Woman motorcyclist dies in Kuala Terengganu after crashing into buffalo

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 14 — A 20-year-old woman was killed after her motorcycle crashed into a buffalo on Jalan Kampung Alor Parit here early this morning, according to Sinar Harian.

The victim, identified as Siti Nur Zainatul Akmal Hanim Muhammad Hanipah from Bukit Payong, died at the scene from severe injuries.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the incident occurred at about 3.10am when she was riding a Honda Beat from the city centre towards her home in Kampung Undang.

“Initial investigations found that her motorcycle collided with an animal believed to be a buffalo that was in the middle of the road before she fell,” he was quoted as saying.

Her body was taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for further action, according to Sinar Harian.

Police said the motorcycle was badly damaged in the crash, which took place on a two-way road with no street lights.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
