BINTULU, Sept 14 — The Sarawak government remains committed to resolving site-related issues affecting the Ulu Pandan Road Project (Phase 2) here to avoid unnecessary delays, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He emphasised the need to address land and technical matters swiftly to ensure the project progresses on schedule.
“The scope of works includes the construction of an eight-kilometre paved main road (JKR R3 standard), six kilometres of branch roads (JKR R1 standard), and the rehabilitation of 11 kilometres of existing road under Phase 1, covering the stretch from Sungai Tissay Bridge to Sungai Kelabat Bridge,” he said in a statement following a visit to the project site today.
The project also includes two reinforced concrete bridges — the 60-metre Sungai Sebauh Bridge and the 30-metre Sungai Genaan Bridge.
Uggah revealed that the project has recorded 67.48 per cent physical completion so far.
He urged the contractor, Sarawak JKR, and all relevant agencies to resolve outstanding matters without delay to prevent further setbacks.
Earlier, Uggah also inspected Ulu Sebauh Road, which has been cut off by flooding, underscoring his concern over rural infrastructure challenges that affect the wellbeing of local communities. — The Borneo Post
