SUBANG:

Prime Minister Ibrahim left for Doha tonight to attend an emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Monday in the Qatari capital.

He is attending the summit at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, following an Israeli attack on buildings in Doha in which three Hamas members and a Qatari security officer were killed.

is scheduled to deliver Malaysia’s national statement at the summit to reaffirm the country’s stance on the need to end Israel’s blatant violations of international law.

On Saturday, the foreign ministry said a final communiqué outlining collective actions and positions in addressing the issue is expected to be adopted at the summit.

The summit will be attended by leaders and representatives of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The Israeli attack on Sept 9 left six people dead, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya and his office director (manager), while Hamas’s top leaders reportedly survived.
