KUALA LUMPUR: It is time for the Arab-Islamic world and the international community to rise together to defend dignity, stop violence and ensure global security, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, who departed for Doha, Qatar, to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, said he would deliver Malaysia’s national statement tomorrow.
He said his statement would express Malaysia’s solidarity with Qatar, which had fallen victim to what he described as “barbaric attacks by the Israeli Zionists”.
“This attack on Qatar clearly proves that Zionist cruelty knows no bounds.
“For decades, they have oppressed the Palestinian people, and now they are threatening the sovereignty of Arab and Islamic nations as a whole.
“If Qatar can be attacked, then no country is truly safe from their threat,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar said Malaysia strongly condemned the attacks and stood firmly with Qatar, Palestine and all peace- and justice-loving nations, and that it would never bow to oppression.
“This is the moment for the Arab-Islamic world and the international community to rise together, defend dignity, stop the violence, and ensure global security.
“Malaysia will not submit, will not waver, and will not remain silent as long as this oppression continues.
“Malaysia will always stand with the oppressed people of Palestine.”
