Coach Badrul Hails Turtles For Solid Display To Earn FA Cup Q-final Spot

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 14 (Bernama) — Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Badrul Afzan Razali has praised his men for their 3-0 win over Immigration FC in the return leg of the FA Cup second-round match at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Nerus last night.

The win allowed the Turtles to overturn their first-leg 2-1 loss and advance to the quarter-finals with a 4-2 aggregate.

The 49-year-old coach said his men showed a level of discipline and never-say-die attitude right from the first whistle in last night’s match.

“I want to congratulate my players for giving it their all for victory. They all played well, right from the first minute until the last.

“Although we lost 2-1 in the first leg, I am satisfied because we managed to bounce back tonight (last night) for victory, and advance to the last eight,” he said in the post-match press conference here last night.

Muhammad Akhyar Rashid scored a brace while Cameroonian striker Junior Sam Ngong chipped in with the other to steer the Turtles to a comfortable home win last night.

Meanwhile, Yusri Che Lah, coach of Immigration FC, also known as the Mighty Tigers, admitted that his men’s complacency led to the TFC players having lots of space to hurt them and send them packing from the tournament.

He also attributed their defeat to several of his key players being down with injuries, thus affecting his game plan.

“Language and compatibility were also an issue as three of our imports are from Brazil and one is from Thailand… they don’t understand English.

“This may seem trivial, but it’s a big enough problem for me and our local players because they don’t understand my instructions. But then again, I’m not blaming them,” he said.
