GEORGE TOWN, Sept 14 (Bernama) — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today began a three-day working visit to Penang in conjunction with the Malaysia Day 2025 celebration, scheduled for Sept 16 at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena.
His programme began with the Hari Bersama Komuniti event and the launch of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) Penanti in Bukit Mertajam this morning.
He then continued with the Ziarah Kasih Komuniti MADANI initiative and observed the distribution of Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid at a supermarket in Kubang Semang. Later, he visited the Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) project at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Butterworth.
As chairman of the Central Organising Committee for National Day and Malaysia Day 2025, Fahmi will conclude his first day by attending the full-dress rehearsal for the Malaysia Day celebration at PICCA at 8 pm.
On the second day, his itinerary includes a site visit to a 5G telecommunications tower near the Penang Bridge, a Tabung Kasih@HAWANA contribution event in Air Itam, an inspection of wireless broadband (WiFi) facilities at Politeknik Seberang Perai in Permatang Pauh, and participation in a wayang pacak (outdoor movie screening) in Kepala Batas.
On Sept 16, Fahmi is expected to join several live interviews with Mutiara FM, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), broadcast from a motorhome equipped with a mini-studio at the PICCA venue.
He will also attend the JiWA Merdeka: Aspirasi Belia MADANI 2025 programme at Paddy Pavilion, Permatang Pauh, before joining the main Malaysia Day event themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the celebration at 8.30 pm, joined by Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
This year’s Malaysia Day celebration is being hosted in Penang, continuing the tradition of rotating venues among Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
