Districts in the east coast of Sabah, including Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran experienced power outages earlier this evening.
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd said it was in the midst of identifying the cause, Bernama reported.
The company said several areas in Tawau had also experienced blackouts, and the cause of the problem is being identified. Electricity supplies are being restored in stages.
It said a technical team was having difficulty in reaching the affected power line located in Kampung Sarapong and Kampung Moyog in Penampang, on the west coast of Sabah.
“A landslide towards the transmission tower made it difficult to pass through the area,” it said. “The current heavy rain conditions are also making the inspection process difficult.”
