IPOH, Sept 13 (Bernama) — Police have classified the discovery of a body wrapped in a bundle of clothes, near a river close to the Orang Asli cemetery in Kampung Kerawat, Simpang Pulai, yesterday, as a murder case.
Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that forensic examination indicated that the victim had likely died from injuries caused by a blunt object.
“Investigations have confirmed that the victim is an adult male, but his identity has yet to be ascertained,” he told reporters, today.
He added that no arrests have been made so far, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Yesterday, a 28-year-old local man discovered a large bundle of clothes, believed to contain human remains, near a river close to the Orang Asli cemetery in Kampung Kerawat, along Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands.
Initial investigations by the Perak police forensic unit confirmed that a large bundle of clothes was found, lodged against a tree trunk by the riverbank, believed to contain human remains.
