ALOR SETAR: A Penang PAS ulama council member has expressed dissatisfaction with the state Perikatan Nasional chief’s leadership.
Mohd Shafirul Rozani, who is also Penang PAS Ulama election committee head, urged the Perikatan leadership to consider appointing a new state coalition chairman who can perform well.
“Imagine this – you own a Ferrari and a Lamborghini but you can’t drive them because the steering wheel is in someone else’s hands.
“That is the situation now, Perikatan (in Penang) must be seen as working and taking charge.
“But if the chairman doesn’t know how to drive, the car won’t move even if it is brand new. It’s better for us to change the chairman,” he said at the 64th ulama council muktamar here on Saturday (Sept 13).
The current Penang Perikatan chairman is Gerakan’s Datuk Dominic Lau.
The relationship between PAS and Gerakan soured after Lau was named to contest in the Malay-majority Bayan Lepas state seat during GE15.
Gerakan lost all 19 seats it contested during the polls.
Mohd Shafirul also asked PAS’ election committee to have a firm stand when choosing candidates to contest.
