MERSING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised that the Malaysia Madani concept is not a new idea, but was formulated to ensure the country’s progress is in line with the empowerment of humanitarian values, justice and good morals.
He said society is currently busy chasing digital and artificial intelligence (AI) progress, but some look down on other races, sow hatred and forget the basis of humanity.
“This Madani that I emphasise on, the economy must be sustainable for the long term.
“The rich must not oppress workers with low salaries.
“Don’t fight over contracts for your children.
“The country won’t prosper if you follow the old ways.
“We need children with high intelligence, so they must study diligently,” he told the Meet Anwar session in conjunction with the 27th Johor Scouts General Assembly (PAPJ27) at Pantai Tanjung Leman here today.
Anwar said the Madani concept emphasises economic strength and technological sophistication that can elevate human dignity, rather than destroying morals.
“Having advanced technology but lacking morals is not true progress.
“There are big companies with huge profits, but the workers are neglected.
“That is why the Madani values must be instilled, so that there is compassion, justice and love,” he said.
Also present were Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul.
