Samsung Project Moohan Headset To Get 3D Capture Feature

Samsung is expected to launch its first Android XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, later this year. Ahead of the official unveiling of the device, the company may have inadvertently revealed a 3D Capture feature for the headset that allows users to take photos and videos on their Galaxy phones and view them on the headset.

According to a report by SamMobile, version 4.0.0.3 of the Camera Assistant app includes a new 3D Capture option. The report notes that this option only appears for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. A brief description for 3D Capture explains that the feature allows users to “create spatial photos and videos for Galaxy XR headsets”.

Based on this description, it seems like Samsung is taking a page from ‘s book. The bitten fruit company allows iPhones to capture spatial photos and videos, which can be viewed on the Vision Pro for an immersive experience. However, Samsung is apparently avoiding making this functionality an innate part of the camera app for some reason.

The eagle-eyed may also notice that the description says “Galaxy XR headsets”. This could indicate that the Project Moohan headset will be named Galaxy XR, or some variation of it. Aside from that, the plural implies that there will be more headsets with this branding, though that shouldn’t be surprising.

Samsung is rumoured to launch the headset on 29 September. For now, not much is known about the device in terms of specifics, but we can expect more details to emerge soon.
