KPDN Launches ‘Jom Cari Menu Rahmah’ To Boost Public Awareness

PEKAN, Sept 12 (Bernama) — The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has launched the ‘Jom Cari Menu Rahmah’ programme to strengthen the Menu Rahmah initiative and raise public awareness of premises offering affordable meals.

Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said a total of 3,106 premises nationwide, including 401 in Pahang, are currently offering Menu Rahmah meals, covering hospitals, higher education institutions, food stalls and restaurants.

“When Menu Rahmah was introduced in 2023, many assumed it would not last because it was driven independently without government support. Alhamdulillah, it continues to grow today.

“We want the public to know that Menu Rahmah is still ongoing, and the government is backing the initiative through various incentives, including the Menu Rahmah Special Discount Card,” she told reporters after launching the programme at Kedai Warung Lima Ringgit in Kampung Tanjung Gosong here today.

The Menu Rahmah initiative was introduced on Jan 31, 2023, by the late Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub to ease the cost of living burden, especially among the less fortunate.

Under the initiative, participating eateries offer meals priced at RM5.

Fuziah further said the special discount cards allow participating traders to purchase basic food items such as chicken, onions and rice at lower prices through the Rahmah Sale programme.

“For example, traders can buy up to 30 chickens at discounted prices. This enables them to continue sharing their sustenance with the public, even with smaller profit margins,” she said.

She added that KPDN has set up an official portal, menurahmah.kpdn.gov.my, to facilitate trader registration and help the public to locate nearby Menu Rahmah premises.

On the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, she said her ministry would forward public suggestions to the Finance Ministry (MOF) for the government aid scheme to be expanded to include fresh produce.

“Currently, SARA covers 14 categories of items determined by the MOF. I will relay these suggestions to the ministry for consideration,” she said.
