ISKANDAR PUTERI, Sept 11 — Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said today he is confident the state can achieve a projected revenue of RM2.5 billion this year.

He added that Johor is on track to record its highest revenue in history, citing ongoing development plans, including contributions from the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

“I have also detailed the performance of the state’s revenue in the past 10 years, where from 2015 to 2021, Johor’s state revenue was around RM1.5 billion to RM1.7 billion.

“However, since 2022, the state’s revenue began to show a consistently encouraging increase of RM200 million to RM300 million per year,” he said at the Johor state legislative assembly in Kota Iskandar today.

Onn Hafiz, who is also the Machap assemblyman, said the state’s revenue growth was no accident, but the result of careful planning, meticulous financial management, and teamwork.

“However, we cannot deny that this drastic increase in state revenue is due to contributions through the JS-SEZ.

“As I mentioned before, the state government will ensure that the surplus revenue will be channeled to the people in every corner of the state,” he said.

Onn Hafiz also noted that the state government recently announced initiatives involving about RM20 million, benefiting more than 200,000 Johoreans.
