“The new Chery O5 represents our commitment to continue offering vehicles that combine style, innovation and practicality.
“With its segment-first multi-link independent rear suspension, expanded driving modes, and upgraded transmission, the new Chery O5 raises the bar for what young Malaysian drivers can expect from a stylish crossover,” said Chery Malaysia vice president Lee Wen Hsiang,
Proven Popularity
After winning the hearts of Malaysians as the Omoda 5 with over 13,000 units delivered since 2023, the model now continues its journey with a new identity — the Chery O5.
At present, the Chery O5 is sold in 38 countries including Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Italy, Poland and Mexico.
From January to August this year, it achieved total sales of 44,769 units.
Global Milestones
Chery Group has remained committed to high-quality development, achieving three major milestones this year that reinforce its leading position: being China‘s top automobile exporter, the fastest-rising automaker on the Fortune Global 500 list and a leader in independent quality among Chinese automakers.
From January to August, the Chery Group sold 1.73 million vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 14.5 per cent.
Overseas exports reached 798,804 units, up 10.8 per cent from the same period last year, further cementing its status as China‘s leading automotive exporter.
A First In Its Segment
Under the hood, the new Chery )5 is powered by a 1.5T engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm of torque, now paired with a new six-speed dual clutch transmission (6DCT) for quicker shifts and higher torque capacity.
Most notably, the new Chery O5 is the only model in its class to feature a multi-link independent rear suspension.
This upgrade marks a significant leap from the previous torsion beam setup, delivering smoother ride comfort, enhanced handling stability, and superior cornering performance – a game-changer for young drivers who value both comfort and control.
Drivers also gain an expanded choice of three driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport – compared to just two previously.
Distinctive Design
The new Chery O5 introduces Chery’s latest design language with a pixel diamond front grille and X-shaped front bumper, complemented by arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights with sequential turn signals.
Its 18-inch sporty black alloy wheels add a bold, athletic stance, while the new spoiler design enhances aerodynamics and gives the new Chery O5 a sleek, energetic finish, perfectly complementing its dynamic character.
Advanced Technology and Comfort
Inside, the new Chery O5 debuts a 20.5-inch integrated dual screen, alongside an upgraded frameless rear-view mirror and dual temperature light vanity mirrors on the sun visors.
Premium comfort features include front ventilated seats (both front seats), six-way driver powered seat and four-way passenger (front) powered seat, wireless phone charging and a front centre armrest with cooling storage – all new additions tailored for daily convenience.
The cabin boasts a Sony eight-speaker premium audio system, 64 dynamic multi-coloured ambient lighting, power sunroof and seamless wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The new Chery O5 continues to prioritise safety with a 78 per cent high-strength steel body, six airbags, Isofix child seat anchors and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.
Features such as 540° HD panoramic camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and intelligent headlight control enhance confidence on the road.
The vehicle holds the same coveted five-star Asean NCAP safety rating, applicable to the current model as it was to the Omoda 5.
