KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — The charred remains of a nonagenarian and his 64-year-old son was found burnt inside a single-story terrace house they resided in at Kampung Sri Indah A, Sungai Buloh, near here, that was destroyed in a fire early this morning.
Selangor Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that they received an emergency call at 12.50am.
The first fire engine from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.
“The fire involved a single-story terrace house that was 80 percent destroyed. Two male victims, a 94-year-old father and his 62-year-old son, were found burnt to death inside the house,” he said in a statement today.
He stated that the operation was also assisted by fire rescue teams from Damansara BBP, Rawang BBP, and Bukit Jelutong BBP, involving a strength of 28 personnel and eight fire engines, including a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), and water tankers.
“The fire also destroyed two cars, a Perodua Alza and a Perodua Kancil, which were both 80 per cent damaged,” he added.
According to Ahmad Mukhlis, the fire was brought under full control at 3.40am and both victims were confirmed dead by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) at the scene.
He stated that the JBPM K9 unit was deployed to assist with forensic investigations, and the bodies of the victims have been handed over to the police for further action.
“This morning, the fire team returned to the location for a follow-up operation and overhaul work to ensure the fire does not reignite,” he said. — Bernama
