KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — A school principal in Selangor was arrested today by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly misappropriating funds from a foundation meant to help B40 communities under the MyKasih programme.
The woman, in her 50s, reportedly used her position as principal to carry out the misconduct.
According to sources, the alleged misappropriation occurred in 2021 and involved roughly RM16,000, BH Online reported.
The act came to light following a report by a member of the public and concerned parties, prompting a MACC investigation.
The funds were from a non-profit organisation established to provide food aid and support through education and training to underprivileged groups.
Selangor MACC director Mohd Azwan Ramli confirmed that the investigation was conducted under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
“The principal was arrested today for further action. The suspect will be charged at Shah Alam Sessions Court tomorrow,” he told the Malay newspaper.
The principal was called to the Selangor MACC headquarters to give a statement this morning.
