KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Shuhaily Mohd Zain has confirmed that 18 of the agency’s men were among those arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with a counter-setting syndicate that enabled foreigners to bypass entry procedures.
He said the personnel were attached to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, although the specific breakdown has not yet been provided.
“I have contacted MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki to express my support for the operation to curb corruption at our entry points. We will provide any necessary assistance to facilitate MACC’s investigations,” he told reporters when met at the Defence Ministry’s Defence White Paper Mid-Term Review launch, here.
