KUALA LUMPUR: Giantkillers Wan Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King won an all-Malaysia clash against Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri to reach the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Hong Kong Open today.
The world No. 20 pair overcame Haikal-Hon Jian 21-17, 21-19 in the second round to repeat their Macau Open semi-final victory over their compatriots last month.
Arif-Roy King, who went on to win the Macau Open title, had a fiery start in Hong Kong where they upstaged Denmark’s world No. 4 Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the first round.
They will next play either India’s world No. 9 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty or world No. 42 Peeratchai Sukphun-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul of Thailand in the last eight tomorrow.
