TRUE

Poland’s quaint town of Czermna is home to one of Europe’s few skull-themed attractions – Skull Chapel. As its name suggests, the space is amusingly decorated with thousands of skeletons.

It was established in the 18th century by a local parish priest, Vaclav Tomasek, who, by accident, uncovered a mass grave.

For the next two decades, Tomasek and a grave digger tirelessly collected the human remains and relocated them to the chapel.

The chapel serves as a space to honour the victims of wars and epidemics whose bones now line the walls.
