NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 220.42 points, or 0.48 percent, to 45,490.92. The S&P 500 added 19.43 points, or 0.3 percent, to 6,532.04. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 6.57 points, or 0.03 percent, to 21,886.06.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with consumer discretionary and consumer staples leading the laggards by losing 1.58 percent and 1.06 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and technology led the gainers by adding 1.76 percent, respectively.
