IPOH: Crude palm oil and assets valued at an estimated RM1.11mil were seized during an enforcement operation in Kerian.
Northern Brigade General Operations Force’s (GOF)commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, said the operation named “Ops Taring Palma” was conducted on Tuesday night (Sept 9).
He said the ops was carried out together with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, Kerian District Police, and the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.
“A lorry carrying a suspicious load at the Kerian area was spotted, and the team tailed the vehicle until it reached the Bukit Merah (Northbound) rest area.
“There the suspects were found illegally transferring crude palm oil from two tanker lorries into one bonded lorry,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 10).
He said checks uncovered 85,580kg of crude palm oil, stored in 15 blue barrels (200 litres each), along with transfer equipment and four mobile phones.
“The police also detained four local men, aged 26 to 44, in connection with the case, while the Traffic Department issued traffic summons under the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The public has been urged to serve as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the authorities by reporting illegal activities,” he added.
