ALOR SETAR: Police are working to identify a man who was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the road at KM 46 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) on Tuesday (Sept 9).
Kota Setar district police chief ACP Siti Nor Salawati Saad said they received a report of the accident at about 7.30am on Tuesday.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when a compact car, driven by a 61-year-old man and travelling in the left lane, struck a pedestrian believed to be crossing the road.
“The collision caused the victim to be thrown into the emergency lane and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene. The body was sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for further action,” she said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 10).
She added that the driver of the car lodged a police report on Wednesday, and investigations are ongoing.
“Members of the public, especially eyewitnesses, are urged to come forward and provide information. Those with missing family members can contact traffic investigating officer Inspector Mohd Lukmanul Hakim Mohd Fauzi at 04-7321222 or 013-9964614 to assist the investigation,” she said. – Bernama
