KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) — The Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed) at the UM Auditorium Hall, Cyberjaya.
SWCorp in statement said the MoU marks a significant step in strengthening the nation’s human capital development, particularly in the field of solid waste management and public cleansing.
Through the MoU, SWCorp is committed to enhancing the efficiency and competency of its workforce by providing more systematic and strategic learning opportunities through the implementation of the Executive Diploma in Law Enforcement Management and the Executive Diploma in Management (Administration and Operations).
“A total of 100 SWCorp personnel from the implementation group have been selected based on set criteria and will begin their studies this month, with the first lecture scheduled on Sept 13,” the statement said.
In addition, SWCorp continues to upskill its workforce to ensure they are not only more knowledgeable in operations and enforcement, but also capable of carrying out fieldwork more effectively.
“The modules provided by UMCCed are designed to be relevant to the job scope, covering both theoretical and practical aspects related to the programmes offered,” it added.
The organisation of the programme reflects SWCorp’s commitment to driving professional development in solid waste management and public cleansing, while strengthening the structure and role of its workforce to be more effective and aligned with industry best practices.
“The programme is also designed to combine the strength of fieldwork experience with a structured academic approach, thereby equipping employees with knowledge and skills to perform tasks more efficiently and competitively,” the statement read.
The signing of the MoU also serves as recognition of the contributions of SWCorp employees, who consistently face frontline challenges, while motivating them to continue improving their skills through lifelong learning.
The programme is in line with SWCorp 2.0’s excellence policy, which focuses on human capital development through the implementation of the Best Home Talent programme.
“With this MoU, SWCorp, through its collaboration with UMCCed, lays a solid foundation for the development of a professional workforce capable of carrying out responsibilities more effectively, while becoming a key national asset in strengthening the sustainability agenda for solid waste management and public cleansing,” the statement added.
