HULU SELANGOR: Police arrested three locals after a fight broke out at a restaurant in Hulu Bernam in the early hours of Sept 9.
District police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said officers received a report at 5.22am regarding a brawl.
The altercation involved four men and the restaurant owner.
“The incident started after the owner reprimanded the suspects for bringing alcohol into the premises, leading to the altercation” he said in a statement today.
A Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) team later detained three suspects, aged 23, 34 and 36, in front of the restaurant.
Checks showed that the first and second suspects each had eight prior criminal records, with one still wanted by police in another district for a fighting case. The third suspect had no record.
Police are tracking down the fourth man, who fled before officers arrived.
“Urine tests on the suspects came back negative, although they were intoxicated during the incident,” Ibrahim said.
The trio have been remanded until Sept 12 to assist investigations under Sections 323, 506 and 427 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and committing mischief.
If convicted, they face jail terms ranging from one to five years, fines, or both.
